Abstract
The use of a new colorimetric reagent, resorcinol-4,6-disulphonic acid, for the detn. of hexoses and their polysac-charides, is descr. The reagent is used chiefly for the detn. of glucose, fructose and their polysaccharides. From 10 to 250 [mu]g. of glucose in 5 ml. may be detd. with errors of less than 1%. Inulin and starch give 100% and dextran 95/6 of the color intensity given by their constituent monosaccharides. Keywords
