Organosilyl iron carbonyl complexes: synthesis and reactivity towards alkynes and nitriles

Abstract

The di-iron complex [Fe(CO)₄SiPh₂]₂, readily obtained from Fe(CO)₅ and Ph₂SiH₂ under photochemical conditions, reacts with the alkynes RCCR to yield the new mono- and bi-metallic complexes (CO)₄[graphic omitted]iPh₂(R = Ph, Me, or Et) and (CO)₃[graphic omitted](CO)₃; the former complexes convert nitriles into aldehydes via disilylated enamines.
