Oral or intravenous cholecystography and fractional analysis of bile aspirated through duodenal tube have been used as great diagnostic helps in the disease of the biliary tract, especially of the gallbladder. Recently, further techniques such as direct cholangiography, laparoscopy, and the examination using ultrasonic waves also come into use. Although valuable information as to the morphological abnormality and functional disturbance of the biliary tract may be obtained by these procedures, it is occasionally insufficient for a definitive diagnosis. Especially in carcinoma of the gallbladder, the diagnostic accuracy is made in only 10% to 30% of the cases even by means of these procedures. Little is known about the findings of selective celiac arteriogram in gallbladder diseases.
