Abstract
The first acoustic analyses of the voices of thirty new-born babies are recorded on 197 sonograms. The cries of new-born babies are characterized by a weakening of the fundamental and lower partials with high formants around 1400 to 3000 cps. The cries and other sounds emitted by new-born babies are classified and the corresponding spectrograms are described.
