Abstract
Two conditions in man, exophthalmic goiter, and osteomalacia due to vitamin D deficiency, are associated with abnormally high Ca excretion in the feces. This study sought to determine whether one factor influenced both conditions. Ca excretion, determined in 2 patients with exophthalmic goiter, was not reduced after the ingestion of large quantities of vitamin D. It is concluded that the high Ca excretion in hyperthyroidism is not due to deficiency of vitamin D.Keywords
