WHAT CONSTITUTES A LETHAL REDUCTION OF TEMPERATURE?

Abstract

Rabbits (apparently ca. 160) were immersed in water and exposed to outdoor winter temp.; 62% of those whose body temp. had been reduced to 19[degree]C, and 15.5% of those whose body temp. had been reduced to 19-25[degree]C died; and death came to only 2.7% whose body temp. had been reduced to only 25[degree]C or above. The results show that a definite lethal temp. (above which life is always preserved and below which death always occurs) on exposure to cold cannot be stated.
