Abstract
These expts. were undertaken with the idea of devising a means for the surgical treatment of coarctation of the aorta. At a one-stage operation the thoracic aorta was divided, the 2 ends were closed, and the proximal end of the divided left subclavian artery was anastomosed to the side of the aorta beyond the point of its division. Some of the animals survived this procedure, and there was evidence of adequate blood flow to the posterior part of the body. The possible clinical application of these studies is discussed. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
