Mourning Dove Production in North Dakota Shelterbelts, 1950

Abstract
Production of morning doves (Zenaidura macroura) was studied in 5 shelterbelts near Jamestown, N. D., totalling 56 acres and 4.4 miles in length, with 10-17 rows of trees and shrubs per shelterbelt. A breeding population of 39 doves, about 4 pairs to a mile or 1 pair to 3 acres, produced 64 young to the flying stage, about 15 to a mile, or one to an acre of shelterbelt.
