Abstract
Chemical models were used to examine the effect of sorption of Cd on iron oxyhydroxide, as a function of pH and ionic strength. In freshwater, where Cd2+ was the major species, adsorption was not related to onset of hydrolysis in bulk solution. Experiments at 5, 10 and 15% salinity, where CdCl42- was probably the major species, showed the onset of adsorption shifted to higher pH with increasing salinity. This publication has 16 references indexed in Scilit:
