Experimental Agranulocytosis. Its Production through Leukocyte Agglutination by Antileukocytic Serum

Abstract
By use of antileukocytic serum which was capable of producing leukocyte agglutination in vitro, an agranulocytosis of varying degree was produced in guinea pigs. Intracardiac injns. of antileukocytic serum led to transitory leukopenia with secondary marrow stimulation. Repeated subcutan. serum admn. produced a long granulocytopenia with accompanying bone marrow changes of an increase in the immature forms and a general increase in cell size. No morphological changes in the remaining leukocytes of the peripheral blood nor cellular phagocytosis was observed, nor was cellular destruction in the bone marrow noted.
