Structure of Tellurium Oxide Glass

Abstract
An x‐ray analysis of tellurium oxide glass has been made. This glass is unusual in that it is made up of octahedra which exhibit a close order configuration such that four oxygens are found at a distance of 1.95 A and two others at 2.75 A. This configuration is similar to that found in the crystal. The way in which the octahedra link together is discussed and some observations on the ``edge‐opening'' process are discussed. Possible presence of crystallites in the glass is indicated.Keywords
