Examination of cocillana bark yielded results which differed considerably from those of the original phytochemical investigation in 1893. An alkaloid–like fraction was obtained but no distinguishable component was isolated from it. Coblentz' „camphor–like body” was not isolated at all. It is concluded that modern commercial cocillana bark may not be the same species of Guarea as that first collected by Rusby. Die phytochemische Untersuchung der Cocillana–Rinde (Guarea rusbyi)ergab von den von Coblentz 1893 gefundenen abweichende Resultate. Es wurde zwar eine alkaloidähnliche Fraktion erhalten, aus der sich jedoch keine bestimmbare Komponente isolieren ließ. Auch die vom genannten Autor erwähnte kampferähnliche Substanz wurde nicht gefunden. Es wird angenommen, daß die heutige Handelsdroge nicht mit der früheren identisch ist.
