Abstract
A patient is described who presented clinically with mitral stenosis and a patent ductus arteriosus. He was found at autopsy to have a stenosis of the left atrio-ventricular canal produced by a shelf-like ring attached to the annulus of the mitral valve. The clinical and pathological features are described and reference is made to similar cases. Keywords
