The synthesis of [18]annulene trioxide

Abstract

[18]Annulene 1,4:7,10:13,16-trioxide has been synthesized. It is a deep red stable compound, and its spectral properties indicate that it is an aromatic system in which there is significant delocalization of the 18 peripheral π electrons.
