Studies on Fibrous Aerosol Filters—IV Calculation of Aerosol Deposition in Model Filters in the Range of Maximum Penetration

Abstract
The particle collection efficiency in a system of parallel cylinders due to inertial deposition of particles of finite size was calculated for small Stokes' numbers. The total collection efficiency in a fan model filter due to three deposition mechanisms was calculated in the range of maximum penetration. It was shown that at moderate flow velocities Uo < 100 cm/sec) the chief role in this range is played by diffusion and interception, while inertia is of little significance.
