Abstract
The behavior of the magnetic susceptibility and the electronic specific heat of alloys of Ir with the other nearly filled d‐band elements indicates that a rigid band model cannot be used to describe the behavior of the susceptibility. It appears that the large‐susceptibility enhancement in these metals in mainly due to large intra‐atomic interactions which, e.g., are large on Pt ions in pure Pt and remain large when a Pt ion is placed in Ir.
