Abstract
A simple technique for percutaneous introduction of a large pliable polyethylene catheter into the pericardial sac was described. The technique carries no additional risks and possesses distinct advantages over the needle method. It allows complete evacuation of effusion and, in addition, makes possible hemodynamic observations over long periods. It is a particularly useful safety measure in rapidly reaccumulating effusions and for intrapericardial instillation of various therapeutic agents. This publication has 5 references indexed in Scilit:
