Studies on cholinesterase

Abstract

A simple method of purification of a tissue esterase, capable of hydrolysing acetylcholine was described. The final prep. was 2000 times as active per unit dry wt. as the original material and about 15,000 times as active as horse serum. The enzyme was a pseudo-cholinesterase since it hydrolysed esters other than those of choline.
