Surface Tension of Simple Liquids from the Radial Distribution Function

Abstract
Using radial distribution function data available from the literature for liquid argon, krypton, xenon, neon, nitrogen, oxygen, and methane, the authors calculate Lennard-Jones potential function constants from the pressure and configurational energy. They numerically integrate the Kirkwood–Buff–Fowler equations to obtain the surface tension and surface energy of the liquids. These equations are also integrated using literature values of the potential function constants obtained from gas viscosities and second virial coefficients.
