Some Morphological Characteristics of Nodule Bacteria as Shown by the Electron Microscope. II

Abstract
Nuclear studies of Rhizobium leguminosarum were made with the electron microscope in which cytological methods which rendered various portions of the cell more or less opaque were used. Procedures which are dependent upon color reactions with organic indicators such as butter yellow for fats or decolorized fuchsin in the Feulgen reaction were unsuccessful. Certain hematoxylins show promise for future studies. Nuclei were demonstrated by the methods of Mirsky and Pollister (1942) and Knaysi and Mudd (1943). Osmium tetroxide vapor produced a spiral arrangement in the cell which may be associated with nuclear structure.
