Abstract
Fifty-one of 100 strains of streptococci of group-D produced enterocin. Only a few strains of enterococci are lysogenic. All 60 strains tested for sensitivity were inhibited by one or several enterocins. The antibiotics of the described donor-strains are substances with a different host range and different properties. There are strains which produce at least 2 different enterocins. Many of the properties of colicines can also be demonstated for enterocins.
