Abstract
This paper discusses the viscous and diffusional properties of linear hydrocarbons in terms of simple molecular mechanisms. Making use of data obtained from the diffusion of hydrocarbons through molten polymers it suggests that in liquid hydrocarbons the micro-molecular process of flow and of diffusion involves a trans-gauche or crank-shaft type of rotation. Keywords
