Abstract
Anuric renal failure developed in 4 patients in association with increased intraabdominal pressure from postoperative hemorrhage. Polyuria and resolution of the renal faliure occurred in each patient in response to operative decompression of the abdomen. Renal failure secondary to increased intraabdominal pressure was previously produced experimentally in dogs by the i.p. installation of graded amounts of saline. This is the first report of this type of renal failure in clinical practice. This publication has 8 references indexed in Scilit:
