Abstract
We propose a phenomenological theory for determining the critical supersaturation for homogeneous nucleation of a given vapor. The method is illustrated by predicting the critical supersaturations of water, ethanol, methanol, and hexane as a function of temperature. These predictions are shown to be in good quantitative agreement with experiment. This publication has 9 references indexed in Scilit:
