Abstract
The author reports on results in changes of blood sugar in 6 totally depancreatized dogs with subsequent thyroidectomy. He concludes that thyroidectomy in diabetic animals without insulin treatment fails to lower blood sugar levels. This disagrees with the work of Friedman and Gottesman who contended that they obtained diminutions in the glycosuria of pancreatic diabetes in dogs the day following thyro-parathyroidectomy.
