Abstract
We study diffusion in the presence of a hierarchical set of barriers. We find a phase transition in the dynamics from ordinary to anomalous diffusion as a parameter controlling the relative barrier heights is varied. Similar behavior is found in suitably defined random systems. Possible connections to glassy dynamics are discussed. Keywords
