Abstract
The inhibitory action of HN2 in the Shwartzman phenomenon is confirmed, but evidence is presented that the HN2 acts systemically rather than locally on the endo-thelium of the preparatory site, since protection of the preparatory site from the action of the HN2 by means of a skin clamp, fails to influence the inhibition, while occlusion of the aorta with protection of the lower limbs decreases or prevents the inhibitory action.
