Abstract
THE neonatal lupus erythematosus syndrome is an uncommon disease often characterized by cutaneous lupus lesions, isolated congenital heart block, or both.1 2 3 The majority of mothers of affected children are asymptomatic at the time of the birth of the infants. Approximately 40 percent of mothers have features of systemic lupus erythematosus or Sjögren's syndrome. Almost all the mothers and affected infants described so far have been positive for anti-La(SS-B) antibody, anti-Ro(SS-A) antibody, or both.4 , 5 We report here on two infants with cutaneous lesions of the neonatal lupus erythematosus syndrome who, along with their mothers, were positive for the anti-U1RNP . . .Keywords
