STUDIES ON THE PHYSIOLOGY OF THE LIVER

Abstract
A series of observations on gaseous metabolism was made on trained animals before and after removal of the liver and before and after the injection of glucose. It was found that: the total amount of heat produced was not directly affected by the total loss of hepatic tissue; the respiratory quotient increased immediately after removal of the liver, and glucose had a greater specific dynamic action in the dehepatized than in the normal animal.
