ISOLATION AND IDENTIFICATION OF ESTRONE, ESTRADIOL AND ESTRIOL IN HUMAN PREGNANCY PLASMA*

Abstract
Estrone, estradiol and estriol were isolated from a pool of human pregnancy plasma and identified by the criteria of countercurrent distribution, paper chromatography, infrared spectrophotometry, positive Kober and Barton's color reactions, and purification to constant specific activity following the addition of C14-labeled authentic estrogens. The amounts isolated from the 360 ml. of pooled plasma were 18.6 μg. of estrone, 11.8 μg. of estradiol, and 10.4 μg. of estriol.
