Abstract
Oogenetic development is characterized by 2 phases: a lag phase and a growth phase. The lag phase is characterized by the persistence of stage 2 oocysts for from 200 hours at 65°F to 25 hours at 106°F before the initiation of the growth phase. The growth phase contains stages 22 through 9 and has its shortest duration (48 hours) at 90°F, with the other temperatures requiring more time. No ovarian development occurs at 60° or 110°F; temperatures of 65° and 106°F are suboptimal, while 70°, 80°, and 90°F are within the optimal range for ovarian development.
