Abstract
Following operation the blood shows an increase in P, protein, non-protein N and urea. The blood sugar drops. The blood becomes more concentrated. The urine output is decreased and albumin appears. The kidneys show pathological changes. These facts lead to the suggestion that death may be due either to hypoglycemia or acid intoxication. The former can be corrected by injections, in which case the animal dies from an acidosis similar to that following certain types of chronic nephritis. This is due probably to the failure of the kidney properly to eliminate acids. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
