PERIANGIITIS AND PANANGIITIS AS A MANIFESTATION OF SARCOIDOSIS OF THE BRAIN

Abstract
Histological examination of the brain revealed granulomatous lesions involving the Virchow-Robin spaces, and the vessels were infiltrated to a variable extent. The granulomatous nodules occurred diffusely in the leptomeninges, cerebrum, brain stem and cerebellum. They were composed of epithelioid cells, Langhans giant cells and a peripheral rim of lymphocytes. Caseous necrosis was absent. Specific staining methods for micro-organisms were negative, and no inclusion bodies were found.
