Radiative Lifetimes of BBr and of Ultraviolet Emissions in Electron‐Beam Excited BBr3 Gas

Abstract
The radiative lifetime of BBr in the A 1Π state is determined by the phase‐shift method to be τ = 25.6 ± 5.0 nsec . Comparison of the experimentally determined electronic transition moments for the A 1Π→X 1Σ+ transitions in BF, BCl, and BBr is made. Phase measurements made in an unidentified emission system, excited in BBr3 gas and extending from about 2200 to 3700 Å, are also briefly described.
