Abstract
The angular distribution of the scattered intensity has been measured for beams of molecular hydrogen and its isotopes, colliding with a MgO surface. In the analysis of the spectra, it is not found necessary to invoke phonon excitation. The exchange of energy between internal degrees of freedom and translation gives a good account of the experiments. (AIP)Keywords
