Abstract
Isolated islets of toadfish have been incubated for periods up to 48 hours at 20° C, and glucose uptake, lactate production, glucose oxidation to CO2, and incorporation of glucose carbon into protein have been studied. Glucose carbon was incorporated into an acid ethanol extractable protein fraction exhibiting an Rf similar to beef and fish (bonito and tuna) insulin in the system described, as well as biological insulin activity. Keywords
