Abstract
An analog of the Stokes-Einstein relation is derived for the bulk viscosity of simple fluids by means of statistical mechanics. The formula is used to calculate the bulk viscosity with the self-diffusion coefficient available either from experiment or from numerical simulations. The results are in good agreement with experiment with regard to the density and temperature dependence. Keywords
