Abstract
Pyronin, when used in the methyl green-pyronin stain, is useful in localizing ribonucleic acid (RNA). That it has rarely been used alone is perhaps a result of the observation (Kurnick 1955) that pyronin stains deoxyrobonucleic acid (DNA) of animal tissue when not competitively inhibited by methyl green. The tests described in this note indicate that pyronin alone can be used to demonstrate RNA in fixed plant tissues. Keywords
