Abstract
Chromosome analyses were carried out on bone-marrow cells in five untreated cases of multiple myeloma. No chromosome abnormality was detected in three. In one patient only one out of 35 metaphases anaylsed showed an abnormal karyotype. In the last case the majority of cells had 45 chromosomes and the missing one was a small acrocentric autosome. The pathogenetic significance of these findings is discussed.
