Tsunami warning charts

Abstract

Two charts have been constructed to assist in predicting the travel times of tsunami waves reaching the New Zealand coast from known origins. If the time and location of the generating earthquake are known, the initial wave arrival times at various points on the coast lying in the direct path of the tsunami can be estimated within a time of approximately one hour.
