Abstract
Social workers in acute hospital settings are often unprepared for the large number of older patients with whom they will work. In order to keep up with the literature and translate new concepts into practice a Gerontology Journal Club was established at a teaching hospital in New York City as a continuing education modality for the experienced practitioner. The operation and format of this group are discussed, as are the conceptual, practice, and program gains made by the workers who have been involved in the Club.
