Abstract
A kindergarten program aimed at the development of conceptual skills was analyzed within the framework of the neo-Piaget-model proposed by PASCUAL-LEONE in 1970. On the basis of theanalysis, it was predicted that experimental kindergarten children would perform at the same level as regular grade-IV children on a verbal classification task, and at the same level as regular grade-II children on a gestural classification task. The success of the predictions was interpreted as evidence that the neo-Piagetian model can provide a conceptual link between PIAGET’s developmental theory and GAGNÉ’s learning theory.
