Abstract
The modal characteristics of equilateral three-core fibers are analyzed using a rigorous method based on circular harmonics expansion. The polarization patterns of the vector modes are obtained, and the mode splitting characteristics of these modes are examined. The results confirm the validity of a perturbation analysis of the same problem by A.J. Stevenson and J.D. Love (1987).Keywords
