Abstract
Acanthocephalus galaxii n.sp. is described from Galaxias maculatus (Jenyns, 1842) in the Waimeha Stream at Waikanae, North Island. It most closely resembles A. falcatus (Froelich, 1789) and A. lutzi (Hamann, 1891) in the number of rows of hooks and hooks per row, but it differs from A. falcatus in size and host group, and A. lutzi in hook size, the number of cement glands and host group. The range of fish hosts is indicated.
