ENZYME SYSTEMS CONTAINING ACTIVE SULFHYDRYL GROUPS. THE ROLE OF GLUTATHIONE

Abstract

By inhibiting enzyme systems with iodo-acetamide, chloromercuribenzoic acid, and organic arsenicals, and reactivating with glutathione, it was found that glutathione maintained enzyme activity in systems having [long dash]SH groups. These groups were important for enzyme activity in metabolism.
