Methoxy-substituted Glycerol Ethers Isolated from Greenland Shark Liver Oil.

Abstract
Glycerol ethers more polar than the ordinary ones were separated from Greenland shark liver oil. The molecular structure was determined by mass spectrometry, NMR [nuclear magnetic resonance spectrum], infrared spectroscopy and gas-liquid chromatography. The structure was confirmed by synthesis. The following 3 methoxy glycerol ethers were isolated from shark liver oil: l-O-(2-methoxyhexadecyl)-glycerol, l-0-(2-methoxy-4-hexa-decenyl)-glycerol, and 1-0-(2-methoxy-4-octadecenyl)-glycerol.
