Abstract
A patient with Whipple's disease responding rapidly to sulphamethoxazole-trimethoprim is described. In spite of initial folate deficiency, the drug was well tolerated for one year. It is proposed that a sulphonamide combined with trimethoprim should be the drug of first choice in the treatment of Whipple's disease. Repeated jejunal biopsy is suggested as the best way to record the effectiveness of treatment. Keywords
