Notizen: Untersuchungen über lösliche Kieselsäureverbindungen in Aspergillus niger

Abstract
Methanol extracts of A. niger taken fresh from nutrient solutions showed very little difference in the kinds of amino acids present whether the Aspergillus was grown in a solution containing silica or in one containing phosphorus. Methanol extracts of Aspergillus grown in phosphorus nutrient solution, after drying about 12 months, contained all the amino acids present in extracts of fresh material whereas in extracts of the fungus grown in silica nutrient solution hardly any amino acids were found. Since these results were repeated in different experiments it was assumed that amino-sugar components in combination with silicic acid have a special significance in the synthesis or degradation of materials.
