Surface contraction of the clean W(001) face

Abstract
Extensive comparison of efficient dynamical LEED calculations with new, more complete experimental data has shown the clean state of the W(001) surface as compressed by about 11% such that the top layer spacing is reduced by 0.18±0.03 Å. This is a greater contraction than had originally been proposed and is more in line with the magnitude of contraction observed in other bcc (001) surfaces.
