An Electrochemical Technique for Removing Thin Uniform Layers of Gold

Abstract
A reproducible and accurate electrochemical technique for the removal of extremely thin (20Aå–4000Aå) uniform layers of gold has been developed. The removal was achieved by anodizing at constant current in and subsequent stripping in . An extension of the technique allows the relatively rapid (25 µm/hr) removal of gold from single crystals in a strainfree manner. Calibration curves are shown and experimental details described.
